Online RPG I
First of all, to those who do not know, RPG is an acronym of Role Playing Game.
As of today, there have been hundreds of RPG games played online (thru internet) by the use of desktop/laptop computers, play stations, and xbox.
Eversince family computers started RPG games are being played by people. As years pass, continuous improvement have been made for all these games. Some RPG games became extinct and some are still popular and being supported by gamers all over the world. From a pixilated graphics (aka XY plot -i think) the games improved to a 2D and now the popular 3D graphics where the character(s)'s appearance look more realistic, edges are smoother and details are clearer.
Enough of the technical stuff and let's just proceed. Hehehehe.
Anyways, as for me I am more into computer offline and online RPG games. I tried playing games when my Nintendo was not broken "yet" and when me and my friends (way back in high school and college) get together to play playstation (though I don't have my own ps or xbox. >_<) in their house (who ever is available. Desktop computer is what I have and I really maximized the use of it not only by doing school projects, browsing, chatting (hahahah), but also gaming.
I officially started playing Online RPG games by around June of 2003 when pRO was still at its beta days - thanks to my Systems Analysis & Design (SAD) teacher (hehehehe... very influential... hahahaha). pRO stands for Philippine Ragnarok Online. I have been thru a lot in this online game. I was able to socialize more (online and iRL - in real life), felt almost all the emotions while playing the game itself, i also learned not to spend much of my school allowance just to be able to buy game time and for computer rentals in an internet cafe (due to i don't have internet connection in the dormitory), i also learned to starve myself just to avoid spending much, go home late at night or worse go home after almost 10-15 hours spent in playing in an internet cafe, and a lot more. I mean a lot. But what I enjoyed most is meeting with other people, converse with them, and making new friends.
In this game there is a great possibility that you will also learn to love and fall in love for someone. Not minding how far that person is and not worrying much that she/he is not physically there with you. I knew few people who are now in a relationship, engaged, married, and even have their first child already who actually first met in pRO. Seems like a fairytale isn't it. But no joke, it's real 'coz some of them are my friends. Even though 3 years is kinda short with regards to time for a relationship, all were made possible. It all only depends on how both will handle the relationship that they have. Ofcourse not everyone could have a happy ending in their lovelife, but some becomes so filthy rich in-game. These players have well equipped characters wearing rare and over upgraded equipments.
The game has its ups and down. But lately problems occur more frequently. And it makes the avid gamers of pRO angry and disappointed for the kind of service they receive. Though I was one of the victims of the ever popular hack cases, I am still here an avid player and still trying to survive in-game.
Though it won't be like before where you personally play your character(s) to level up due to bot programs, I will still play. Because there are still in-game events that requires users to manually play their character(s)-which ever they like to login/use if a user has many characters. And besides, this is one of the options I have that allows be to bond with my friends in the Philippines.
BTW, bot programs are pre-programmed (by the user) computer application which allows characters to level up even though the owner is away from his/her computer.
to be continued...
